Circles and Velvet Skies

When the morning comes,
I will hold him in my arms,
I will touch his rising sun
and feel his stirring charms.

When the noontide comes,
I will watch him slay the morn,
toiling in the turning hours,
fighting night’s return.

When the evening comes,
I will sigh and let her fly.
She hasn’t the time to linger—
she races across the sky.

She must hasten toward the morrow,
like a runner chasing light.
When she meets him on the horizon,
they will touch, then reunite.

Circles and velvet skies,
Shadows, chasing the light.
Each day the world turns ‘round,
I feel my soul take flight.

Circles and velvet skies,
Shadows dance with the light.
This love will pierce the dark
and bring the sun through the night.
